The 2017-18 Bookbuzz books

This year's books will be revealed at the end of April, but take a look at the titles on last year's booklist to whet your appetite.

Students got to choose one of the books below as part of the 2016-17 Bookbuzz programme.

The mainstream titles, that all participating mainstream schools received during 2016-17 were:

  • 13 Hours by Narinder Dhami (Tamarind, Random House)
  • My Brother is a Superhero by David Solomons (Nosy Crow)
  • Petunia Perry and the Curse of the Ugly Pigeon by Pamela Butchart and illustrated by Gemma Correll (Nosy Crow)
  • The Many Worlds of Albie Bright by Christopher Edge (Nosy Crow)
  • The Boy Who Sailed the Ocean in an Armchair by Lara Williamson (Usborne)
  • River of Ink: Genesis by Helen Dennis (Hachette Children's Group)
  • I am Malala by Malala Yousafzaia and Patricia McCormick (Hachette Children's Group)
  • Arrowhead by Ruth Eastham (Scholastic)
  • An Eagle in the Snow by Michael Morpurgo and illustrated by Michael Foreman (HarperCollins)
  • The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge (Macmillan)

The accessible titles that special schools received, and all students were able to choose from, during 2016-17 were:

  • Boffin Boy and the Poison Garden by David Orme and illustrated by Peter Richardson (Ransom Publishing)
  • The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield (Frances Lincoln)
